Letter from Dr Lewis to all his patients:
After a great deal of deliberation I have taken the difficult decision to resign from my post as a GP at Northbourne at the end of December.
My reason for leaving is that I need to strike a better work/life balance. Of particular importance is ensuring that I see my family more then I currently do due to the very long hours I currently work.
Being a GP is becoming increasingly difficult as more and more demands are placed on an already stretched health service. Patients registered at Northbourne Medical Centre are fortunate that all the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the practice have always had a very clear ethos of putting patients first and although the move to new premises has been a challenge for us all, the new, bigger and better facilities the building is able to offer patients will help to ensure that Northbourne continues to provide this high standard of care in the future.
Over the past eight years I’ve shared some joyous and incredibly sad times with my patients. I’ve also been truly humbled by the generosity and respect that my patients have afforded me. Many of my patients have regularly enquired about my family and I’ve been grateful for your interest.
My replacement as of February 1st 2015 will be Dr Sam Sewell; however as she will not be starting until February my surgeries will be covered in the interim by the remaining practice partners.
With my kindest regards
