Notice for our Patients regarding GP level data Collection

Along with all GP surgeries we have received a request from NHS digital on behalf of NHS England under section 259 of the Health and Social Care Act.

There is to be a data collection of Individual GP level data.  This is a pilot that will explore the feasibility in collecting and reporting data at individual GP level across the entire general practice estate.  All GP surgeries in England have to take part by law.

There are two collections - the first in October 2017 and the second in January 2018.  Examples of the data that will be extracted are:

The % of patients aged over 65 years with a record of a flu vaccine

The % of patients with high blood pressure in whom their last reading was high

The % of patients eligible for cervical screening who have had a smear test in the last 5 year

For a full list and further information please see the Privacy Notice issued by NHS Digital.

We have assurance from NHS Digital that data will remain secure and confidential and that all data analysis will remain within the NHS at the NHS Digital Data Management Service.  However should you wish to opt out of this pilot then you are able to do so, by emailing or writing into the practice so we are able to flag your records accordingly.
